By the end of the trading session on 02 March 2022, benchmark index ASX 200 increased marginally up by 0.285% and settled at 7116.7. Despite the gain in the benchmark index, most sectors ended in the red zone. The energy and materials sectors were the top gainers with a growth of 4.88% and 3%, respectively. On the other hand, Financial, consumer discretionary, and A-REIT were the top three losers with a drop of 1.44%, 1.01%, and 1.15%, respectively.
The energy sector seems to have improved due to the rise in the oil prices till US$110 per barrel as investors were worried because of the impact of aggressive sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. Also, the material sector was influenced by the rise in commodity prices.
PolyNovo Limited (ASX: PNV) and Santos (ASX: STO) were the top gainers on ASX 200 with significant growth of 7.272% and 6.198% in the share prices, respectively. On the other hand, Pointsbet (ASX: PBH) and Janus Henderson Group Plc (ASX: JHG) were the top losers with a drop of 11.751% and 7.297% in the share price.

The Hang Seng and FTSE 100 is down 1.31%, and 1.72% respectively.
