ASX/200 Closed Higher by 0.45%, Lifted by Information Technology

By the end of the trading session on 20 January 2025, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed higher by 0.45% and settled at 8,345.40. Out of 11 sectors, 09 sectors ended higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Information Technology and A-REIT are the top-gaining sectors, gaining 1.13% and 0.79% in their index value. On the other hand, Financial and Telecommunications Services are the top losing sectors, losing 0.56% and 0.03% in their index value.

Tabcorp Holdings Limited  (ASX: TAH) and Iress Limited (ASX: IRE) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining  6.250% and 6.167% in their stock prices. On the other hand, The Star Entertainment Group Limited  (ASX: SGR) and Karoon Energy Limited (ASX: KAR) went down by 17.858% and 5.686% respectively are the top-losing stocks.
