Market Alert : Global Sell-Off Extends: Liquidity Fears and Growth Concerns Dominate

ASX 200 Ended Lower By 0.64%, Dragged Down By Materials and Consumer Discretionary Sectors

By the end of the trading session on 15 December 2022, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended lower by 0.64% and settled at 7,204.80. Out of 11 sectors, 9 sectors closed lower along with the ASX 200.

The Consumer Staples and Energy sectors were the gaining sectors, gained 0.73% and 0.40% respectively in their index values. On the other hand, Materials and Consumer Discretionary sectors were the top 2 declining sectors, declined by 1.35% and 1.25% in their index values.

Blackmores Limited. (ASX: BKL) and New Hope Corporation Limited (ASX: NHC) were the top gainers, with 7.473% and 4.655% growth in share prices, respectively. On the other hand, Pilbara Minerals Limited (ASX: PLS) and Core Lithium Limited (ASX: CXO) were the top losers, with a 11.429% and 9.443% drop in share prices, respectively.

  • Oil prices fell as hawkish signals from the Federal Reserve brewed uncertainty over U.S. economic health and spurred some profit taking after a three-day rally, even as the outlook for demand improved.
  • Dow has closed down by 0.42%, S&P 500 down by 0.61%, and NASDAQ closed down by 0.76%.
  • Hang Seng is down by 1.27%, and FTSE 100 is up by 0.09%.
