Other Factors influencing the market:

  • S&P/ASX 200 closed lower today due to rising bond yields and geopolitical tensions.
  • The Westpac Melbourne Institute Index of Consumer Sentiment fell 0.9% to 83.7 in October from 84.4 in September, as an increased cost of living, laggard wage growth, and rising interest rates dented the country’s economic outlook.
  • Australian and US 10-year Treasury bond yields topped 4% as investors worried about the global economy's health and a renewed bond sell-off in the UK.
  • Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index has fall below 17,000 points for the first time since the height of the GFC in May 2009.
  • Oil prices are slightly lower as markets weigh potentially weaker demand against supply disruptions from the Russia-Ukraine conflict and OPEC production cuts.
  • Dow has closed down by 0.2%, S&P 500 down by 0.4%, and NASDAQ closed lower by 0.8%.
  • Hang Seng is down by 2.07%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.45%.
