ASX 200 Ended Lower By 0.28%; Dragged Down By Utilities And IT Sectors
By the end of the trading session on 19 September 2022, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended lower by 0.28% and settled at 6,719.90. Out of 11 sectors, 9 sectors closed lower along with the ASX 200.
The A-REIT and Materials sectors were the top 2 gaining sectors, gained by 0.92% and 0.01% in their index values. On the other hand, the Utilities and Information Technology sectors were the top 2 declining sectors, declined by 1.39% and 1.25% in their index values.
Lake Resources N.L. (ASX: LKE) and Pilbara Minerals Limited (ASX: PLS) were the top gainers, with 12.365% and 3.485% growth in share prices, respectively. On the other hand, Sayona Mining Limited (ASX: SYA) and Magellan Financial Group Limited (ASX: MFG) were the top losers, with an 8.621% and 5.751% drop in share prices, respectively.
S&P/ASX 200 declined today and a weaker dollar as investors braced for a packed week of central bank meetings that are certain to see borrowing costs rise across the globe, with some risk of a super-sized hike in the United States.
Lake Resource’s share price gained after it completed the construction of the facility to house the Lilac Solutions demonstration plant at the Argentinian Kachi project.
Oil prices are declining as a weaker dollar and supply concerns ahead of the European Union embargo on Russian oil in December offset fears of a global recession that could dampen fuel demand.
Dow has closed down 0.5%, S&P 500 down by 0.7%, and NASDAQ closed lower by 0.9%.
Hang Seng is down by 1.15%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.62%.
