ASX 200 Ended Lower By 0.09%; Weighed Down By Telecommunication And A-REIT Sectors
By the end of the trading session on 1 March 2023, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended lower by 6.80 points and settled at 7,251.60. Out of 11 sectors, 9 sectors closed lower along with the ASX 200.
The Materials and Energy sectors were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 2.29% and 1.62% respectively in their index values. The Telecommunications Services and A-REIT Sector was the top declining sector, declined 2.26% and 1.73% in their index values.
Ramelius Resources Limited (ASX: RMS) and Perseus Mining Limited (ASX: PRU) were the top gainers, with 6.703% and 4.834% growth in share prices, respectively. On the other hand, Link Administration Holdings Limited (ASX: LNK) and Lifestyle Communities Limited (ASX: LIC) were the top losers, with 5.677% and 4.942% drop in share prices, respectively.
The Australian economy grew by 0.5% in the December quarter, which is lower than the previous quarter's 0.7%, and lower than the expected forecast of 0.8%, due to lower demand caused by inflation and higher interest rates, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Aldoro Resources, a mining company, has responded to a query from the Australian Stock Exchange about its price increase from a low of 16 cents on February 27th to an intra-day high of 28 cents.

Oil prices increased on Wednesday due to stronger-than-expected Chinese economic data, which raised hopes for a demand rebound in the country. Despite signs of another large build in U.S. inventories, markets remain positive.
The Dow fell by 0.71%, the S&P 500 by 0.30%, and the NASDAQ decreased by 0.10%. The Hang Seng declined by 3.37%, and the FTSE 100 rose by 0.74%.
