Market Alert : Global Sell-Off Extends: Liquidity Fears and Growth Concerns Dominate

ASX 200 Ended Higher By 0.59%, Led By Energy and A-REIT Sectors

By the end of the trading session on 09 January 2023, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended higher by 0.59% and settled at 7,151.30. Out of 11 sectors, 9 sectors were closed higher along with the ASX 200.

The Energy and A-REIT sectors were the top 2 gaining sectors, gained 1.41% and 1.10% respectively in their index values. The Information Technology and Health Care sectors were the top 2 declining sectors, declined 0.59% and 0.19% respectively in their index values.

Paladin Energy Ltd (ASX: PDN) and Nickel Industries Limited (ASX: NIC) were the top gainers, with 9.558% and 6.666% growth in share prices, respectively. On the other hand, Telix Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: TLX) and Computershare Limited (ASX: CPU) were the top losers, with a 7.163% and 5.532% drop in share prices, respectively.

  • Imugene Limited rose by 6.25% following approval to start a Phase I clinical trial of its oncolytic virotherapy candidate, Vaxinia, in Australia.
  • Dow has closed up by 2.13%, S&P 500 up by 2.28%, and NASDAQ ended higher by 2.56%.
  • Hang Seng is up by 1.59%, and FTSE 100 is up by 0.87%.
