ASX 200 Ended Higher By 0.04%; BOQ and CRN Rallied
By the end of the trading session on 12 October 2022, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended higher by 0.04% and settled at 6,647.50. Out of 11 sectors, 9 sectors closed lower despite the gain in the ASX 200.
The Financial and A-REIT sectors were the top 2 gaining sectors, gained 1.89% and 1.04% in their index values. On the other hand, the Utilities and Energy sectors were the top 2 declining sectors, declined by 2.20% and 1.47% in their index values.
Bank Of Queensland Limited (ASX: BOQ) and Coronado Global Resources Limited (ASX: CRN) were the top gainers, with 11.127% and 8.010% growth in share prices, respectively. On the other hand, Mineral Resource Limited (ASX: MIN) and Nickel Industries Limited (ASX: NIC) were the top losers, with a 3.655% and 3.185% drop in share prices, respectively.
Bank of Queensland was the top gainer with a rise of 11.12%, the biggest daily gain in nearly two years, after posting a 15% profit gain to $426 million in the last 12 months.
Coronado Global Resources rallied following the company has confirmed that it was in discussion with NYSE-listed Peabody Energy regarding a potential combination transaction.
Shares in mining giants dropped, tracking a decline in iron ore prices on concerns about China’s economic health. Rio Tinto declined 1.9%, Fortescue Metals retreated 2.8%, and BHP fell 1%.
