ASX 200 Dropped Sharply By 1.40%; All 11 Sectors Closed In Red
By the end of the trading session on 17 October 2022, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended lower by 1.40% and settled at 6,664.40. All 11 sectors closed lower along with the ASX 200. The Materials and Energy were the top 2 declining sectors, declined by 2.11% and 2.11% in their index values.
Core Lithium Ltd (ASX: CXO) and Liontown Resources Limited (ASX: LTR) were the top gainers, with 5.194% and 4.893% growth in share prices, respectively. On the other hand, Adbri Limited (ASX: ABC) and Costa Group Holdings Limited (ASX: CGC) were the top losers, with a 22.011% and 13.420% drop in share prices, respectively.
Core Lithium's share price jumped after the company announced the resignation of Mr. Stephen Biggins from the position of Managing Director.
News Corporation’s share price roses after the company announced that it would start exploring a potential combination with Fox Corporation.
Adbri’s shares plunged after warning that its earnings continue to be affected by ongoing wet weather conditions and announcing the departure of CEO Nick Miller.
Costa Group declined 13.42% to $2.0 after reporting that its citrus category earnings will be “considerably lower” than previously forecast.
Dow has closed down by 1.3%, S&P 500 down by 2.4%, and NASDAQ closed lower by 3.1%.
Hang Seng is down by 0.70%, and FTSE 100 is up by 0.12%.
