Market Alert : Global Sell-Off Extends: Liquidity Fears and Growth Concerns Dominate

ASX/200 Closed Lower by 1.36%, Dragged down by Information Technology

By the end of trading session on 14 November 2025, benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed 1.36% lower at 8,634.50. Out of 11 sectors, 10 sectors ended lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Energy were the top-gaining sector, gaining 0.20% in its value. On the other hand, Information Technology and Financial were the top-losing sectors, losing 4.42% and 1.86% in their values.

Droneshield Limited (ASX: DRO) and Orica Limited (ASX: ORI) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 3.555% and 1.923% in their stock prices. On the other hand, TPG Telecom Limited (ASX: TPG) and Megaport Limited (ASX: MP1) are the top-losing stocks, losing 32.143% and 9.618% in their stock prices.

Other Factors influencing the market:

  • Former investor favourite DroneShield saw a mild recovery, gaining 3.6% to reach $3.13. Still, the defence-tech company ended the week more than 27% lower.
  • In company updates, Ramsay Health Care slipped 1.1% to $30.92 despite its European subsidiary, Ramsay Santé, reporting a slight improvement in first-quarter revenue.
  • Virgin Australia eased 0.6% to $3.145 after indicating that its capacity expansion would slow sharply in the second half, dropping to around 2%.
  • Gold inched higher on Friday and looked set for a weekly gain, supported by a softer US dollar. However, the advance was limited as firm comments from Federal Reserve officials reduced expectations of a possible December rate cut.
  • Oil prices rose roughly 2% on Friday as supply worries intensified following a Ukrainian drone strike on an oil facility in the Russian port city of Novorossiysk, one of the country’s major export terminals.
  • Global market sentiment was mixed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.65%, the S&P 500 dropped 1.66%, and the Nasdaq Composite retreated 2.29%. 
  • In other regions, the Hang Seng slipped 1.75% and the FTSE 100 declined 1.05% today.
