ASX/200 Closed Lower by 0.71%, Dragged down by Materials
By the end of trading session on 22 October 2025, benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.71% lower at 9,030.00. Out of 11 sectors, 07 sectors ended lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.
Energy and Information Technology were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 1.29% and 0.44% in their values. On the other hand, Materials and Industrials were the top-losing sectors, losing 3.11% and 0.91% in their values.
Woodside Energy Group Limited (ASX: WDS) and Light & Wonder Inc. (ASX: LNW) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 3.483% and 2.536% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Genesis Minerals Limited (ASX: GMD) and Evolution Mining Limited (ASX: EVN) are the top-losing stocks, losing 10.288% and 10.268% in their stock prices.
4DMedical Limited (ASX: 4DX) climbed 2.8 per cent to $1.85 after announcing the first commercial rollout of its CT:VQ imaging technology at Stanford University, marking a key milestone in its U.S. expansion following FDA clearance.
Cettire Limited (ASX: CTT) slipped 2.1 per cent to $0.71, even though the luxury e-commerce retailer reported an 18 per cent increase in sales from markets outside the U.S. during the September quarter. However, total revenue declined 3 per cent to $150.3 million, largely due to ongoing U.S. tariff pressures.
Sigma Healthcare Limited (ASX: SIG) edged up 0.7 per cent to $3.06 after the Chemist Warehouse owner said sales growth had accelerated in the first quarter, driven by strong demand for weight-loss medications.
Adairs Limited (ASX: ADH) surged 8.3 per cent to $2.36 despite lowering its first-half sales forecast to a range of $319.5 million–$331.5 million, slightly below its earlier projection.
On the commodities front, oil prices ticked higher after reports indicated that U.S. crude stockpiles fell for the first time in four weeks, while U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated that India plans to reduce imports of Russian oil.
Globally, market sentiment improved modestly overnight. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.47 per cent, the S&P 500 ended flat, and the Nasdaq Composite dipped 0.16 per cent.
In regional trade, the Hang Seng Index slipped 1.04 per cent, while the FTSE 100 edged 0.25 per cent higher.
