Bega Cheese Limited (ASX: BGA) and Perpetual Limited (ASX: PPT) were the top gainers, with 3.214% and 2.599% growth in share prices, respectively. Chalice Mining. (ASX: CHN) and Weebit Nano Limited (ASX: WBT) were the top losers, with 8.261% and 6.522% drop in share prices, respectively.
Pact Group remained steady at 72¢ as the packaging company's board recommends shareholders reject a buyout offer from majority stakeholder Raphael Geminder, a billionaire businessman.
Bega Cheese saw a 3.2% increase, reaching $2.89, following an upgrade to a "buy" rating for the food business by Bell Potter analysts.
ResMed declined by 2.8% to $21.54, nearing a four-year low, after RBC analysts downgraded the stock from "outperform" to "perform" in an analyst note.
Oil is on track for a modest weekly gain, despite concerns over the Israel-Hamas conflict destabilizing the Middle East and affecting global supply. These concerns were offset by signs of weakening demand.
The Dow concluded with a 0.51% decrease, while the S&P 500 dropped by 0.62%, and the NASDAQ ended lower by 0.63%.
