ASX/200 Closed lower by 0.31%; Dragged down by Energy

By the end of the trading session on 29 December 2023, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended lower by 0.31% and settled at 7,590.80. Out of 11 sectors, 9 sectors closed lower along with the ASX 200.

Utilities and Telecommunications Services sectors were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 0.56% and 0.13% respectively in their index values. Energy and Materials sectors were the top-losing sectors, losing 0.88% and 0.56% respectively in their index values.

Core Lithium Limited (ASX: CXO) and Sayona Mining Limited (ASX: SYA) and Nickel Industrials (ASX: NIC) were the top gainers, with 4.411% and 3.731% growth in share prices, respectively. West African Resources Limited (ASX: WAF) and Chalice Mining Limited (ASX: CHN) were the top losers, with 4.061% and 3.966% drop in share prices, respectively.
