Utilities and Materials sectors were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 0.64% and 0.55% respectively in their index values. Healthcare and Consumer Staples sectors were the top-declining sectors, gaining 1.34% and 1.05% respectively in their index values.
Sayona Mining Limited (ASX: SYA) and Core Lithium Limited (ASX: CXO) were the top gainers, with 12.903% and 6.172% growth in share prices, respectively. Coronado Global Resources Inc. (ASX: CRN) and Domino’s Pizza Limited (ASX: DMP) were the top losers, with 4.371% and 4.081% drop in share prices, respectively.
The Reserve Bank, under new governor Michele Bullock, is set to announce its first cash rate decision on Tuesday.
Coronado experienced a 4.4% decline in its stock price, falling to $1.86, following a downward revision of its full-year production guidance.
Domino’s Pizza saw a 4.1% decrease in its stock price, closing at $51.01, after revealing that major shareholder Fidelity had increased its stake from 5.6% to 6.7% after the market closed on Friday.
Oil began the new quarter with a slight increase in its value, reflecting the prevailing belief that global demand is surpassing supply.
The Dow recorded a 0.47% decline, the S&P 500 closed down by 0.27%, while the NASDAQ ended the day with a 0.14% gain.
The Hang Seng index experienced a notable 2.51% increase, while the FTSE 100 saw a modest 0.08% uptick during the trading session.
