Financial and Healthcare sectors were the top-losing sectors, losing 0.85% and 0.50% respectively in their index values. On the other hand, Information Technology and Materials sectors were the top-losing sectors, losing 2.03% and 0.97% respectively in their index values.
Bapcor Limited (ASX: BAP) and Challenger Limited (ASX: CGF) were the top gainers, with 3.435% and 2.950% growth in share prices, respectively. Core Lithium Limited (ASX: CXO) and Sims Limited (ASX: SGM) were the top losers, with 11.539% and 6.027% drop in share prices, respectively.
Core Lithium experienced an 11.5% decline to 23¢ as it decided to halt mining operations at its Northern Territory mine due to a prolonged drop in lithium prices.
Sims, the scrap metal recycler, saw a 6% decrease to AU$14.19 after analysts at Citi downgraded it to a sell rating.
Online wagering company BlueBet witnessed a significant 33.3% increase to 26¢ following a report in The Australian Financial Review stating the company's ongoing talks about a potential merger with fellow bookmaker BetR.
The oil market remained stable on Friday, heading for a modest weekly gain. The market considered factors such as weakening US demand versus tensions in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Dow closed with a marginal increase of 0.03%, the S&P 500 showed a decline of 0.34%, and the NASDAQ finished lower with a 0.56% decrease.
The Hang Seng reported a decline of -0.39%, while the FTSE 100 showed an increase of 0.53% on the current day.
