Materials and Utilities sectors were the top-losing sectors, losing 0.81% and 0.55% respectively in their index values. On the other hand, Energy and Telecommunications Services were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 2.11% and 1.06% respectively in their index values.
Boss Energy Limited (ASX: BOE) and Paladin Energy Limited (ASX: PDN) were the top gainers, with 9.626% and 7.468% growth in share prices, respectively. Chalice Mining Limited (ASX: CHN) and Sayona Mining Limited (ASX: SYA) were the top losers, with 9.728% and 7.273% drop in share prices, respectively.
Zenith Minerals witnessed a 6.5% surge, reaching 16.5¢, following the appointment of Azure Capital to conduct a review of its lithium business, encompassing projects like Split Rocks and Waratah Well in Western Australia.
Chalice Mining experienced a 9.7% decline, settling at $1.16, as hedge funds increased their bets against the metals producer, with approximately 7.5% of the company's shares currently being shorted.
