Energy and A-REIT sectors were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 0.51% and 0.39% respectively in their index values. Consumer Staples and Industrials sectors was the top-losing sectors, losing 0.43% and 0.34% respectively in their index values.
Boss Energy Limited (ASX: BOE) and Neuren Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: NEU) were the top gainers, with 6.617% and 6.513% growth in share prices, respectively. Core Lithium Limited (ASX: CXO) and Sayona Mining Limited (ASX: SYA) were the top losers, with 21.213% and 8.527% drop in share prices, respectively.
Synlait Milk, a dairy producer, experienced a 6.5% decline in its stock price to 87¢ due to a profit downgrade attributed to heightened borrowing costs.
Azure Minerals witnessed a 1.4% increase in its stock value after highlighting the potential "global significance" of its WA Andover lithium mine.
Core Lithium faced a substantial 21% drop in its stock, falling to 26¢. This decline was a result of the company's decision to halt work on its BP33 project in the Northern Territory.
Oil prices experienced a slight decrease as traders assessed the balance between increasing US production and disruptions in the OPEC cartel. Concerns about potential ship attacks in the Red Sea also contributed to the cautious market sentiment.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average concluded with a 0.87% increase, while the S&P 500 exhibited a 1.03% gain. The NASDAQ recorded the highest gain at 1.26%.
In the Asian markets, the Hang Seng index declined by -1.11%, while the FTSE 100 in the UK experienced a modest decrease of -0.27% on the given day.
