Market Alert : Global Sell-Off Extends: Liquidity Fears and Growth Concerns Dominate

ASX/200 Closed Higher by 0.02%, Lifted by Information Technology

By the end of trading session on 17 November 2025, benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.02% lower at 8,636.40. Out of 11 sectors, 07 sectors ended higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Information Technology  and Energy were the top-gaining sector, gaining 1.23% and 1.10% in its value. On the other hand, Healthcare and Utilities were the top-losing sectors, losing 0.43% and 0.26% in their values.

Droneshield Limited (ASX: DRO) and Elders Limited (ASX: ELD) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 11.588% and 6.312% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Regis Resources Limited (ASX: RRL) and Iperionx Limited (ASX: MP1) are the top-losing stocks, losing 3.117% and 3.031% in their stock prices.

Other Factors influencing the market:

  • IperionX slipped 3% to $5.44 after having plunged more than 20% earlier in the session, following claims by short seller Spruce Point Capital that the company’s accounts contain discrepancies.
  • Agribusiness company Elders advanced 6.3% to $7.41 after posting a full-year FY25 result broadly in line with expectations, reporting a 12% rise in net profit to $50.3 million and signalling improved sheep and cattle prices ahead.
  • Pro Medicus climbed 4.2% to $259.36 after Morgans upgraded its rating, boosted by a new five-year, $44 million agreement with Advanced Radiology Management for the Visage 7 Enterprise Imaging Platform.
  • FleetPartners gained 5.2% to $3.01 after acquiring salary packaging firm Remunerator for an upfront $31.4 million, strengthening its position in the novated leasing sector.
  • Oil prices eased as operations resumed at Russia’s key Novorossiysk port on the Black Sea, which had halted activity after a Ukrainian strike caused damage last week.
  • Global market sentiment remained uneven: the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.65%, the S&P 500 edged down 0.05%, and the Nasdaq Composite slid 1.13%. 
  • Meanwhile, the Hang Seng declined 0.88% and the FTSE 100 lost 1.11% today.
