Information Technology and A-REIT sectors were the top-declining sectors, gaining 3.23% and 2.40% respectively in their index values. Utilities and Energy sector was the top-gaining sectors, gaining 3.83% and 2.04% respectively in their index values.
Sayonna Minning Limited (ASX: SYA) and Cromwell Property Group Limited (ASX: CMW) were the top gainers, with 8.333% and 7.692% growth in share prices, respectively. Origin Energy Limited (ASX: ORG) and Chalice Mining Limited (ASX: CHN) were the top losers, with 6.615% and 5.129% drop in share prices, respectively.
Sayona Mining demonstrated the strongest performance on the benchmark, with an 8.3% increase to reach 7.8¢. The company, focused on battery metals, reported significant lithium discoveries at its North American Lithium facility in Québec, Canada, suggesting the potential for an upgrade to the known resource at the site.
Alpha HPA achieved a notable 9% surge, reaching 85¢, following the successful completion of a $40 million share placement. The company specializes in refining technology development.
Global asset management firm Janus Henderson experienced a 2.5% rally, reaching $37.25. The company has announced its intention to de-list from the ASX on December 6.
Crude oil prices saw an increase, in line with broader financial market trends, as the Federal Reserve hinted at a possible halt in interest rate hikes, which provided support for a somewhat uncertain demand outlook.
The Dow closed with a 0.67% gain, the S&P 500 showed a 1.05% increase, and the NASDAQ recorded a 1.64% uptick in its performance.
The Hang Seng index reflected a positive trend, with a 0.84% increase, while the FTSE 100 also showed gains of 0.28% for the day.
