ASX 200 Closed Higher By 0.43%; Lifted By Energy And A-REIT Sectors
By the end of the trading session on 30 November 2022, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended higher by 0.43% and settled at 7,284.20. Out of 11 sectors, 6 sectors closed higher along with the ASX 200.
The Energy and A-REIT sectors were the top 2 gaining sectors, gained 1.79% and 1.31% in their index values. On the other hand, the Utilities and Consumer Staples sectors were the top 2 declining sectors, declined by 0.78% and 0.66% in their index values.
Sayona Mining Limited (ASX: SYA) and Whitehaven Coal Limited (ASX: WHC) were the top gainers, with 12.195% and 8.423% growth in share prices, respectively. On the other hand, St Barbara Limited (ASX: SBM) and Collins Food Limited (ASX: CKF) were the top losers, with a 6.202% and 4.969% drop in share prices, respectively.
Woodside Energy Limited’s share price slipped for the 5th straight day, as the oil price retreats on demand worries out of China.
Collins Food’s share price declined for the 2nd day following it has reported its statutory net profit after tax of $11.0 million for the half year, fell from $26.4 million in the previous corresponding period.
Whitehaven Coal Limited jumped 8.42% to $10.040, after broker upgraded its price target to $11.
Oil prices rose further after data showed to a large weekly drawdown in U.S. crude inventories, while concerns over waning Chinese demand and slowing global economic growth put markets on course for steep losses in November.
Dow has closed higher by 0.01%, S&P 500 down by 0.16%, and NASDAQ closed lower by 0.59%.
Hang Seng is up by 1.09%, and FTSE 100 is up by 0.51%.
