ASX/200 Closed Higher By 0.31%; Lifted by Healthcare

By the end of the trading session on 13 December 2023, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended higher by 0.31% and settled at 7,257.80. Out of 11 sectors, 05 sectors closed lower along with the ASX 200.

Healthcare and A-REIT sectors were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 1.32% and 0.76% respectively in their index values. Energy and Consumer Staples sectors were the top-declining sectors, losing 0.76% and 0.70% respectively in their index values.

Neuren Pharmacy Limited (ASX: NEU) and Polynovo Limited (ASX: PNV) were the top gainers, with 6.960% and 5.119% growth in share prices, respectively. Chalice Mining Limited (ASX: CHN) and Sayona Mining Limited (ASX: SYA) were the top losers, with 5.697% and 5.264% drop in share prices, respectively.

• Newmont, a gold miner, witnessed a 2.8% drop as the price of gold fell below $2000 an ounce to $1197 an ounce.
• The pressure on oil continues, with benchmark US WTI oil futures reflecting a 3.6% decrease, settling at $68.75 a barrel.

• Dow concluded with a 0.48% gain, S&P 500 rose by 0.46%, and NASDAQ recorded a higher growth of 0.70%.
• The Hang Seng observed a decline of -1.06%, while the FTSE 100 experienced a slight downturn of -0.03% on the current day.
