Materials and A-REIT sectors were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 1.31% and 0.97% respectively in their index values. On the other hand Information Technology and Healthcare were the top-losing sectors, declining 1.15% and 0.75% respectively in their index values.
Sayona Limited (ASX: SYA) and Iluka Resources Limited (ASX: ILU) were the top gainers, with 10.000% and 8.446% growth in share prices, respectively. Nanosonics Limited (ASX: NAN) and Bellevue Gold Limited (ASX: BGL) were the top losers, with 33.410% and 3.957% drop in share prices, respectively.
Nanosonics, a manufacturer of disinfection devices, experienced its most challenging day, plummeting over 33% to $2.91, primarily due to falling short of sales guidance for the six months concluded on December 31.
AUB Group, a listed insurance aggregator, saw a decline of 3.8% to $29.88 as it successfully completed the refinancing of $850 million in debt.
Northern Star Resources exhibited a positive performance, surging 6% to $12.81, as it confirmed its guidance. This success was attributed to an outstanding performance at Kalgoorlie, offsetting challenges posed by rising costs.
Asian trading witnessed minimal fluctuations in oil prices on Wednesday. The market's response to escalating geopolitical risks was limited, given weak demand and a rebound in supply.
The Dow concluded with a 0.36% increase, the S&P 500 showed a 0.22% gain, and the NASDAQ ended on a positive note with a 0.32% rise.
The Hang Seng index demonstrated a 1.04% increase, while the FTSE 100 experienced a slight decline of -0.03% on the same day.
