ASX 200 ends lower; All 11 sectors settled in red zone
By the end of the trading session on 12 April 2022, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed lower by 0.42% and settled at 7,454.00. All the 11 sectors on ASX ended lower today. ASX 200 was impacted majorly by the losses in the technology and healthcare sectors, which dropped 0.87% and 1.58%, respectively.
The global stock markets have struggled lately due to the rising concerns of increasing inflation which has led central banks to tighten the monetary policies, weighing on economic growth.
The rising bond yields and hawkish comments from Chicago Federal Reserve Bank President Charles Evans signaled that he would not oppose the interest rate up t0 2.25% to 2.5% by 2022 end at the upcoming Fed Meetings might have also influenced the market today.
Investors seem to be worried because of the upcoming key economic data, which European Central Bank will reveal on 14 April 2022.
The Ukraine conflict seems to intensify. It is said that Russia would be building up troops in the eastern Donbas region of Ukraine for a new assault on the port of Mariupol.
Oil and gold prices are up today.
NASDAQ Composite, NASDAQ-100, Dow Industrial ended lower in its previous session on 11 April 2022.
The Hang Seng is up 0.96%, and the FTSE 100 is down 0.67% today.
