ASX 200 ended lower today; Most sectors ended in red zone
By the end of day’s trade on 12 August 2022, ASX 200 index slipped marginally by 0.54% and settled at 7,032.50 after setting a new 20-day high. Out of the 11 sectors, 8 sectors ended lower along with the benchmark index.
The energy sector was the top gainer with 2.31% growth in the index value to 10383.8. Communication sector was up 0.291% and Consumer Staples by 0.196%. On the other hand, A-REIT and Information Technology sectors were the top losers.
From the energy sector, Woodside Energy Group Ltd noted a 3.735% jump in its share price. It was the biggest jump amongst the blue-chip companies within ASX 200.
Crude oil prices are moving up. Thus, influencing the energy sector to move up.
The Hang Seng is up 0.20%, and the FTSE 100 is up 0.22% today.
China has been plagued with debt crisis in the real estate industry. Many ASX stocks could have dipped on ongoing worry related to demand from China.
NASDAQ-100 and NASDAQ Composite ended lower in the previous session.
