ASX 200 Ended Higher; 10 Out Of 11 Sectors Closed In Green Zone
By the end of the trading session on 08 June 2022, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended higher by 0.36% and settled at 7,121.10. 10 out of 11 sectors closed higher along with the ASX 200. The Energy and Utilities sectors were the top 2 gaining sectors, gained 4.23% and 3.19% in their index values. On the other hand, the Financial sector was the only losing sector, declined 2.85% in its index value.
Atlas Arteria (ASX: ALX) and Boral Limited (ASX: BLD) were the top gainers with 16.197% and 14.685% growth in share prices, respectively. On the other hand, Bendigo And Adelaide Bank Limited (ASX: BEN) and Westpac Banking Corporation (ASX: WBC) were the top losers, with a 7.191% and 6.109% drop in share prices, respectively.
Major banks have extended their losses after the Reserve Bank of Australia raised the interest rate more than expected, causing the Financial sector to decline.
Atlas Arteria’s share price increased to 16.197% after Street Talk reports confirmed that IFM Investors snapped up a 15% stake in the tollroad group.
Oil prices are higher ahead of data on U.S. oil inventories, with crude futures supported by tight supplies and expected demand recovery in China as it relaxed strict COVID lockdowns.
Dow has closed up by 0.8%, S&P 500 up by 1.0%, and NASDAQ closed higher by 0.9%.
Hang Seng is up by 2.09%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.12%.
