By the end of the trading session on 08 July 2022, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 ended higher by 0.45% and settled at 6,678.00. Out of 11 sectors, 8 sectors closed higher along with the gain in the ASX 200.
The Energy and Materials sectors were the top 2 gaining sectors, gained 2.11% and 1.23% in their index values. On the other hand, the Telecommunication Services and Financial sectors were the top 2 losing sectors, declined 0.58% and 0.21% in their index values.
Life360 Inc (ASX: 360) and St. Barbara Limited (ASX: SBM) were the top gainers with 14.325% and 9.638% growth in share prices, respectively. On the other hand, Skycity Entertainment Group Limited (ASX: SKC) and Orora Limited (ASX: ORA) were the top losers, with a 6.452% and 5.933% drop in share prices, respectively.
S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.45%, powered by the Energy and Materials stocks, extending the gains from the previous session as Wall Street rallied broadly.
St. Barbara Limited’s share prices gained as Investors have been buying this share after its strong fourth-quarter performance allowed it to achieve its revised guidance for FY2022.
Whitehaven Coal Ltd's stock jumped, and other resources stocks have also been performing strongly today amid news that China is planning a huge infrastructure-focused stimulus program to boost its economy.
