Tivan Limited (ASX: TVN) has announced the signing of a Heritage Protection Agreement (HPA) with the Kimberley Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (KLC) concerning the Speewah Project in Western Australia. This agreement outlines Tivan's commitment to engaging proactively with the KLC and Traditional Owners to safeguard Heritage and Native Title Rights within specific Speewah tenements. Emphasizing early engagement and genuine inclusion, Tivan aims to involve Traditional Owners in all stages of project development.
The HPA, a response to recent amendments in Western Australia's Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972, details formal protocols for planning, monitoring exploration activities, and fostering collaborative dialogue. Additionally, it sets pathways for economic participation during project development. This agreement paves the way for on-country activities while acknowledging and preserving the heritage and rights of the Traditional Owners at Speewah.
