Taruga Minerals Limited (ASX: TAR) has applied for two essential permits (E08/3733 and E08/3744), covering 306 km² in the Gascoyne province of Western Australia, an area rich in base and precious metals. The Uaroo West project includes historic copper mining, with reported grades of 26% Cu from 1964. The Uaroo East project contains high-grade lead and silver mineralisation, including historic production with 77.7% Pb and 301 g/t Ag grades. Additionally, the project features potential for copper, gold, lithium, and rare earth elements (REE).
Despite historic high-grade workings, no modern drilling has occurred, highlighting the exploration potential. Taruga is conducting a geological model review and plans to explore further. The area’s complex geology, including significant fault structures and the Leake Springs Metamorphics, presents exciting opportunities for polymetallic mineralisation. Taruga will also evaluate lithium and REE potential based on mapped pegmatites in the area.
