Market Alert: ASX200 at Critical Support – Reversal or Further Fall?
Sparc Technologies Limited (ASX: SPN) has announced that Flinders University, in partnership with Sparc, has been awarded AU$353,098 under Australia’s Economic Accelerator Ignite grant program. The 12-month project aims to accelerate the development of graphene-enhanced aquaculture nets designed to reduce biofouling, improve net strength, and enhance durability. This innovation can potentially lower operational costs, mitigate environmental impact, and improve fish health and biosecurity in aquaculture.
Sparc and Flinders University will work towards demonstrating the material’s effectiveness in real-world conditions, with an Australian aquaculture company providing a test site. This project builds on Sparc’s expertise in graphene-enhanced polymer materials and previous research within the ARC Training Centre for Biofilm Research and Innovation. The grant funding will advance the technology from experimental proof of concept (TRL-3) to prototype testing in an operational environment (TRL-5), paving the way for commercial deployment. With the aquaculture industry projected to grow significantly, this technology offers economic and environmental benefits while strengthening Australia’s advanced manufacturing capabilities. Sparc and Flinders University will jointly own intellectual property developed during the project.
