Sparc Technologies Advances Graphene-Enhanced Water-Based Coatings

Sparc Technologies Limited (ASX: SPN) announced promising results in developing graphene-enhanced water-based acrylic epoxy coatings, showing significant corrosion resistance improvements. Initial tests using electrochemical techniques, REAP and ACET, demonstrated that graphene-incorporated coatings improved the time to failure by 5.5x to 11.6x compared to unmodified coatings and showed enhanced durability with no blistering or corrosion. This innovation addresses performance challenges in water-based coatings, a growing market driven by environmental regulations and the need for low-VOC solutions.

The global water-based epoxy market, valued at AU$1.6 billion in 2022, is projected to reach AU$2.9 billion by 2029, reflecting a CAGR of 8.9%.
