S&P/ASX 200 Trading Higher By 2.33%; All 11 Sectors Are Trading In Green

On 04 October 2022, at AEDT 11:50 AM, the benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 is trading higher today, gaining 150.40 points or 2.33%, and is currently trading at 6,607.30 levels. All 11 sectors are trading higher along with the S&P/ASX 200. The Materials and Information Technology sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 2.87% and 2.67% in their index values.

Sayona Mining Limited (ASX: SYA) and Allkem Limited (ASX: AKE) are the top gaining stocks, gaining 12.222% and 7.132% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Sims Limited (ASX: SGM) and Viva Energy Group Limited (ASX: VEA) are the top-losing stocks and are declining by 1.288% and 0.755% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• S&P/ASX 200 is gaining today after weaker than expected US manufacturing data and continued decline in Treasury yields sent Wall Street higher.
• The materials sector is the top-gaining sector, with gold miners Newcrest Mining and Northern Star both rising more than 4% after the gold price retook US$1700 an ounce overnight.
• Oil prices climbed more than 5% in its biggest rally since July as traders positioned for an expected output cut by The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies.
• Dow has closed up 2.66%, S&P 500 up by 2.74%, and NASDAQ closed higher by 2.3%.
• Hang Seng is down by 0.83%, and FTSE 100 is up by 0.22%.
