Pure Resources Acquires Lithium-Rich Pegmatite Claims in Colorado

Pure Resources Limited (ASX: PR1) has acquired 13.5 km2 of exploration claims in the Crystal Mountain Pegmatite District in Colorado, USA. These claims encompass three historical artisanal mines: Kings Canyon, Debbie Doll, and Buckhorn mines. The district, located west of Fort Collins, Loveland, is known for its pegmatites, which are similar in age and mineralogy to those in the southern Black Hills of South Dakota. These pegmatites contain minerals like spodumene, quartz, albite, and amblygonite.

The Crystal Mountain District is rich in beryl, phosphates, columbite-tantalite, and spodumene. Although primarily recognized for beryl occurrences, lithium minerals are also present, particularly in the Kings Canyon area. The Kings Canyon Pegmatites consist of vertically dipping veins with spodumene-bearing mineral assemblages. This acquisition presents a greenfield opportunity for Pure Resources Limited to discover a spodumene-rich lithium deposit, as modern exploration has been absent in the area. Reconnaissance mapping and sampling are currently in progress to target historically documented spodumene-bearing pegmatites in the district.
