Progress on HMW Lithium Project: On Track for 2025 Production

Apr 29, 2024

Galan Lithium Limited (ASX: GLN) reports steady progress on its Hombre Muerto West (HMW) Phase 1 lithium brine project, reaching 33% overall completion with pond systems at 45%. The project, fully owned by Galan, has constructed about 600,000 m² of evaporation area, now holding 1,000t of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE). This setup is poised to produce roughly 2.4ktpa LCE of lithium chloride by early 2025, aligning with initial feasibility studies.

Efforts to optimize capital and operational expenditures are underway, potentially reducing infrastructure needs and improving cost efficiency. The HMW project is expected to boost low all-in sustaining costs, positioning it favorably within the industry's cost curve. Additionally, partnership advancements, including an agreement with the Catamarca government and ongoing negotiations with Glencore, further support the project's forward momentum.
