Pilot Energy received AU$ 6.5 million Commonwealth grant to advance Carbon Capture in the Midwest

Pilot Energy Limited (ASX: PGY) announced that it had been granted AU$6.5 million to support the Mid-West Clean Energy Project in Western Australia. The grant, provided by the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water through the Carbon Capture Technologies Program, will enable the company to advance engineering and technology demonstration activities for capturing carbon from three sources.

The initial goal is to capture 200,000 – 300,000 tonnes of carbon per year, approximately half the amount needed to support Pilot’s Cliff Head Carbon Storage Project. With this funding, Pilot will focus on deploying a pilot facility to demonstrate the water processing capture and direct air capture system, as well as conducting a carbon capture technology assessment and pre-FEED study for a confidential emitter in the Mid-West region of Western Australia.
