Mid-Market: S&P/ASX 200 Trading Lower By 0.97%; Mirroring US Market Losses

All 11 sectors are trading lower along with the S&P/ASX 200. The Information Technology and Consumer Discretionary sectors are the top 2 declining sectors, declining 1.83% and 1.19% in their index values.

Amcor Plc (ASX: AMC) and Endeavour Group Limited (ASX: EDV) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 1.765% and 1.049% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Gold Road Resources Limited (ASX: GOR) and Block Inc. (ASX: SQ2) are the top-losing stocks and are declining by 7.673% and 6.364% in their stock prices.

Factors influencing the market-

• The S&P/ASX 200 is declining today, tracking a fall on Wall Street as optimism faded about the prospect that central banks would soon start lowering interest rates.
• Infratil Limited’s shares were steady at $9.28 after flagging a $133 million improvement in its investment valuation in CDC Data Centers in the October to December period, taking the total valuation to a mid-point of $4 billion, up from $3.8 billion three months ago.
• Strike Energy Limited’s shares slumped despite announcing it had delivered 33 terajules of gas from the Walyering gas field in WA in December following a period of slower deliveries due to maintenance.
• The Dow has closed up by 0.07%, the S&P 500 down by 0.57%, and the NASDAQ ended lower by 1.63%.
• Hang Seng is down by 1.52%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.15%
