Mid-Market: S&P/ASX 200 Trading Higher By 0.23%; Buoyed By Energy Sector

The Energy and Industrials sectors are the top 2 gaining sectors, gaining 1.86% and 0.21% in their index values. On the other hand, the Consumer Discretionary and Consumer Staples sectors are the top 2 losing sectors, declining 1.04% and 0.82% in their index values.

Karoon Energy Limited (ASX: KAR) and Whitehaven Coal Limited (ASX: WHC) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 4.743% and 4.617% in their stock prices. Factors influencing the market-

• Brickworks Limited’s share prices are falling today and among the worst performers on the gauge after it reported a 54% fall in net profit to AU$395 million in the FY23.
• Washington H Soul Pattinson fell after a fall in full-year group profit to AU$759.3 million and an 18.6% boost to its fully franked final dividend to 51¢ a share.
• Oil prices rose in today after surging to the highest settlement in 2023 in the previous session as a steep drop in U.S. crude stocks added to worries of tight global supplies.
• The Dow has closed down by 0.20%, the S&P 500 up by 0.02%, and the NASDAQ ended higher by 0.22%.
• Hang Seng is up by 0.83%, and FTSE 100 is down by 0.43%.
