Island starts patient screening for ISLA-101 Phase 2 study.

Island Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX: ILA) has initiated patient screening for its ISLA-101 Phase 2 PROTECT clinical study following Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval from the US Army. This study, now classified as a Phase 2a/b trial, comprises prophylactic and therapeutic arms. The preventive arm (Phase 2a) will enrol four subjects randomised 3:1 (active: placebo), while the therapeutic arm (Phase 2b) will include ten subjects randomised 8:2 (active: placebo).

Island aims to begin dosing subjects in cohort A in late September 2024, with full trial results projected by the end of 2024. The IRB approval builds on earlier clearance from SUNY Update New York, and the trial protocol amendment previously received approval from the US Foods & Drug Administration (FDA), allowing the integration of both treatment approaches.
