IPH Limited reports unauthorized access to its IT Environment

IPH Limited (ASX: IPH), an Australian intellectual property firm, reported unauthorized access to a portion of its IT environment on March 13, 2023. The company is working to secure its IT environment and has engaged leading external cybersecurity and forensic IT advisors to respond and conduct a forensic investigation, which may take some time to complete. According to the statement released by IPH Limited, the company has informed the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) about the unauthorized access to its IT environment.

The incident seems to have affected only the document management systems and practice management systems of IPH's head office, as well as two member firms, Spruson & Ferguson (Australia) and Griffith Hack. The investigation is focused on determining whether the information stored in these systems has been accessed by the unauthorized third-party. IPH has enacted its business continuity plan and transitioned to alternative processes to enable relevant firms to continue operations, albeit with some disruption.
