Hannans Ltd (ASX: HNR) and the Serbian steelmaking firm Metalfer Group have established a collaboration to advance electric vehicle (EV) battery recycling and processing technologies across several southern European regions, including Serbia. After extensive assessments in 2022, incorporating visits to Primobius GmbH's demonstration plant in Hilchenbach, Germany, the partnership capitalizes on Metalfer's prominence as a leading steel supplier.
Metalfer integrates end-of-life EVs and associated battery fractions into its manufacturing process, enhancing its EV feedstock initiatives through direct access to Hannans' sustainable industrial-scale battery recycling solution. The partnership includes an in-depth study for a proposed 10-tonne-per-day LiB recycling plant. The agreement also explores a feedstock business plan exceeding 4,000 tonnes annually, covering various lithium-ion battery chemistries.
