Green Critical Minerals Limited Unearths Lithium-Bearing Metasediments in Torrington

Green Critical Minerals Ltd (ASX: GCM) provides an encouraging update on the Torrington project, situated in NSW's New England Orogeny. Within the Mole Granite, the project includes the expansive Torrington Pendant, characterized as a metasedimentary roof pendant. Recently, lithium-bearing metasediments were discovered overlying the granite, displaying grades of 0.35% and 0.43% Li2O, akin to the San Jose lithium deposit in Europe. The formation of Li-rich micas results from the infiltration of granite-derived Lithium and Fluorine-rich fluids into the metasedimentary rocks through shearing-related fractures.

Notably, these lithium-rich sediments occur as 10m-thick bands within high-grade tungsten-rich Silexite orebodies. Additionally, lithium and tungsten-rich pegmatites intrude into the sedimentary sequence. With neighboring Fortescue Metals Group's presence and the potential for a multi-commodity resource including lithium, tungsten, and bismuth, the Torrington project holds promising prospects. The shallow depth of known mineralization, within 20-30m from the surface, allows for cost-effective open-pit mining.
