Fisher & Paykel Healthcare announced 1H FY2023 results; NPAT declined 57%

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Corporation Limited (ASX:FPH) announced the results for 1H FY2023 and reported a total operating revenue of AU$690.6 million. This operating revenue number was above the AU$670 million as guided by FPH in its August 2022 trading update.

1. Compared to the previous corresponding period (pcp), the Company’s revenue declined 23%. However, it was up 21% on the comparable pre-pandemic period.
2. Net profit after tax for the period was AU$95.9 million, down 57% on pcp.

In 2H FY2023, the Company expects that below factors might have impact during the period.

1. The rate of COVID-19 hospitalisations along with the associated intensity of respiratory support needed.
2. The severity as well as period of a Northern Hemisphere flu season.
3. The scale of respiratory syncytial virus hospitalisation surges now experienced in some regions.
4. The impact of ongoing hospital staffing challenges on the surgical procedure backlogs in many countries.
