Evolution Mining Limited (ASX: EVN) has reported that the Ernest Henry mine was affected by adverse weather conditions, resulting in water entering the mine and the suspension of production activities. As a result, all workers were safely evacuated from the mine on March 8, 2023. The company has evaluated the extent of the damage over the weekend and begun the process of devising a recovery plan.
Mining activities are expected to restart in approximately six weeks, and works will be undertaken to restore mine production safely and as soon as possible. Surface maintenance plans originally scheduled for the June 2023 quarter will also be brought forward. The company's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Lawrie Conway, said the business performance in the March quarter has been solid, with a cash position better than planned, which provides adequate coverage to handle the impact of the incident at Ernest Henry.
