Endeavour Group Trials Tech to Minimize Gambling Harm

Endeavour Group (ASX: EDV) plans to trial electronic gaming machine technology in 2025 as part of the Victorian government’s initiatives to mitigate poker machine losses. With over 350 hotels and the Dan Murphy's liquor chain under its wing, the company remains optimistic about facial recognition technology, citing positive outcomes in South Australia.

Endeavour supports reducing cash load-up limits to $100 on gaming machines, a measure already in place at its South Australian venues, and aligns with three-second spin rates at its Victorian hotels. Discussions with the government on harm minimization and anti-money laundering strategies are ongoing.

In the financial year ending June 30, 2023, Victorians lost $3 billion on gaming machines. New mandatory closure hours for gaming areas began on August 30. Endeavour's shares rose 1.4% to $4.35.
