Diatreme Resources Limited (ASX: DRX) has signed a Cultural Heritage Management Agreement (CHMA) with Walmbaar Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC, representing the Dingaal Clan. This agreement supports exploration activities at Diatreme’s Northern Silica Project (NSP) in Far North Queensland while ensuring the protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage. The CHMA replaces previous cultural heritage arrangements with more comprehensive provisions, establishing a framework that respects the Dingaal Clan’s traditional laws and customs.
Diatreme’s CEO, Neil McIntyre, emphasized the company's commitment to engaging with Traditional Owners and ensuring their cultural heritage is preserved for future generations. The agreement follows the recent signing of a Negotiation Protocol with WAC, aimed at maximizing economic benefits, employment, and training opportunities for the Dingaal People. The NSP project promises significant economic benefits to the Hope Vale/Cooktown region.
