Group 6 Metals Limited (ASX: G6M) has announced the successful commencement of commercial production of tungsten concentrate at its Dolphin Tungsten Mine (DTM) in King Island, Tasmania. The process plant has achieved practical completion under the EPC contract, with performance testing currently underway. The company has accumulated inventories of saleable tungsten concentrate totaling ten tonnes. The first shipment of tungsten concentrate is expected this month.
The site team is focused on optimizing performance to maximize recovery, and preparations for drill and blast operations are underway. The company held an open day at the mine, allowing the local community to tour the site and observe the progress made since construction began in early 2022. Group 6 Metals is pleased with the achievement of commercial production, which positions them as a leading producer of tungsten concentrate. The global demand for tungsten is projected to grow due to its critical applications in various sectors, such as steelmaking, mining, construction, electronics, and defense.
