Burgundy Diamond Mines announces promising Misery Mine life extension potential

Sep 09, 2024

Burgundy Diamond Mines Limited (ASX: BDM) has reported promising preliminary results from its drilling program at the Misery underground mine, suggesting an extension of its operational life beyond the previously anticipated 2026. CEO Kim Truter noted that all six completed drill holes had intersected the kimberlite pipe earlier than expected, indicating a larger ore body at depth. Notably, the first drill hole revealed a Fancy yellow diamond approximately 25 meters below the last planned mine level.

Additionally, drilling and bulk sampling of the Southwest extension, known to be diamond-rich based on historical open-pit mining, is set to begin in Q4 2024. Burgundy plans to release an updated Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve statement within six months and aims to publish a new extended mine plan in Q1 2025, reflecting a projected surplus of ore availability.
