Bega Cheese reported lower profitability in the Dairy and Drinks Branded business

On 23 February 2023, Bega Cheese Limited (ASX: BGA) published its 1H FY2023 interim report for the period that ended on 25 December 2022:

• The company faced challenges in the first half of the 2023 fiscal year, with lower profitability in the Dairy and Drinks Branded business compared to the prior year.
• Despite the challenges, the company generated statutory earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of AU$71.6 million in 1HFY23.
• The Group's revenue exceeded AU$1.6 billion, which was an 11% increase on the prior year.
• As of 25 December 2022, the Group had consolidated net debt of AU$321.4 million, which was a reduction of AU$7.2 million compared to AU$328.6 million at 26 December 2021.
• Bega Cheese Limited also announced an interim fully franked dividend of 4.5 cents per share for 1HFY23. The reduction in the interim dividend was a reflection of the reduction in earnings achieved in the first half.
