Austal USA received a contract from United States Navy

May 19, 2023

Austal Limited (ASX: ASB) announced that Austal USA has received a US$113.9 million fixed-price incentive and firm-fixed-price contract for the detail design of the T-AGOS 25 Class Auxiliary General Ocean Surveillance Ship for the US Navy. If the contract's options are exercised, up to seven T-AGOS 25-class ships could be designed in detail and built, at an estimated cost of US$3.195 billion.

Through T-AGOS ships run by the US Military Sealift Command (MSC), commanders of the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets have access to a passive and active antisubmarine acoustic surveillance capability. In order to support the Navy's Integrated Undersea Surveillance System (IUSS), the 110-meter steel "small waterplane area twin hull" (SWATH) warships collect underwater acoustical data using the Surveillance Towed-Array Sensor System (SURTASS).
