ACCC re-authorises coordination between Jetstars Asian brands

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has granted permission to Qantas and Jetstar Airways to coordinate with each other and Jetstar's joint ventures in Asia for the next five years, until May 11, 2028. The permission covers coordination related to flight scheduling, sales, marketing, and pricing between Jetstar Asia and Jetstar Japan. 

The ACCC has stated that the coordination will result in increased benefits for consumers, such as greater product choice, improved services, and more convenient flight times. The five-year authorization has been granted due to the rapidly evolving nature of the travel industry, which makes it difficult to predict the long-term impact of such coordination. The Jetstar joint ventures were established to comply with regulatory restrictions on foreign ownership of airlines, which is why ACCC authorization is required to ensure compliance with Australian competition law.
