ABx Group Delivers High-Grade Rare Earth Sample to ANSTO

ABx Group Limited (ASX: ABX) has successfully delivered a 100 kg bulk sample of ionic adsorption clay (IAC) rare earth material to the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) for the production of a high-purity mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC). The material was sourced from the company’s Deep Leads project, located 45 km west of Launceston, Tasmania. This sample is notable for its elevated concentrations of critical heavy rare earth elements, including 77.9 ppm Dy₂O₃ (dysprosium) and 13.1 ppm Tb₄O₇ (terbium).

In-house leach tests conducted at ambient temperatures and pressures achieved 60–69% extraction rates for the four magnet rare earths (Nd, Pr, Dy, Tb) using minimal acid in a short timeframe. ANSTO will now process the bulk sample to produce a high-grade, low-impurity MREC, which is expected to be highly attractive to potential customers. Several prospective buyers are eagerly awaiting the MREC results and have requested samples for independent testing.
